Life in the South Okanagan

Home / Meet Peter Byrnes / Life in the South Okanagan

Life is pretty good when you choose to live, work and/or retire in the summer city of Penticton, BC. Penticton is a place where life markedly slows down during the hot, dry summer months. The beaches that surround our two lakes fill up with locals and tourists alike. All of them clamoring for their slice of heaven in the fresh lake water to cool themselves from the beating desert sun.

While Penticton is known as being one of the dryest, hottest climates in Canada, that doesn’t mean it has tumbleweed views. It’s quite the contrary where Penticton’s landscape is concerned. The city’s jaw dropping beauty can be witnessed from the thousands of photos posted online by awestruck travelers and locals where you will glimpse the surrounding scenery. However, even these impressive photos, do not do this enigmatic city justice. You truly have to experience the sand in your toes and languishing sunsets for yourself.

Due to our unique climate, Penticton is the ideal spot on the globe for growing grapes – and grow them we do. The hills that envelop the city are dotted from peak to beach with gorgeous long lines of symmetrical, lush, varietal grape vines. The green vines are in stark contrast to the white, dry hills and expansive patches of coniferous pine trees and of course the exclamation points on this scenic eyeful, are our effervescent blue lakes.

We are bookended by the lengthy, crisp blue waters of lake Okanagan on the north side of Penticton and to the south we find the enchanting water of Skaha lake which stretches 11.8km into the neighbouring southern community of Okanagan Falls. Our world renowned grapes, winemaking and unique bio-diversity make Penticton and smaller south Okanagan cities like Summerland and Osoyoos a must see destination for connoisseurs of fine wine, fresh local food and of course our laid-back lifestyle and inspiring landscape.

Whatever your reason for coming to Penticton, I want to be your first choice when it comes to deciding to set up shop and buy a home here. I have both the local knowledge and the real estate industry experience to ensure your move to the south Okanagan is a positive one.

GIVE ME A CALL AND LET’S CHAT ABOUT WHAT BRINGS YOU TO PENTICTON AND HOW I CAN HELP YOU FIND A COMMERCIAL OR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY HERE, SO YOU CAN SETTLE IN AND ENJOY YOUR LIFE IN THE SOUTH OKANAGAN.
